BOTOX® wrinkle correction is available at our clinic in Toronto and Richmond Hill.

Botox Cosmetic Logo

Botox® cosmetic injections require several things to be successful. While being an important part of the procedure, Botox® alone is not a guarantee of a good outcome.  Such things as the injector's skills, amount of Botox® used and injection areas are huge contributors to the resulting look you will get after Botox®. The injector's aesthetic vision is also important in achieving excellent results.

Why Dr. Robertus Laser & Cosmetic?

Dr. Robertus is known for her artistic outlook.  She is a skillful injector and performs variety of cosmetic and non-cosmetic injections as a part of her daily practice.

About Botox®

There are 43 muscles in the face and we use them around the clock to express emotions, smile, frown, squint and talk. Many of those muscles pull facial skin in different directions, causing wrinkles.

Some muscles stay contracted longer, some are difficult to control because of such factors as emotions or weather. The longer facial muscles stay contracted, the more apparent wrinkles become, especially when age makes skin less elastic.

Botox® injections offer a solution to this problem by blocking impulses to muscles that cause wrinkles. Botox® contains an active ingredient called Botulinum toxin type A, which relaxes muscles in the site of the injection. As muscles stay relaxed and skin is not stressed anymore, wrinkles will gradually resolve.

Botox® has been used in cosmetic medicine for more than 20 years and it remains by far the most popular procedure worldwide.

Where is it used?

Because of the way Botox® works, it may be used to treat fine to medium depth wrinkles which are accentuated by certain facial movements. These wrinkles include:

  • forehead frown lines
  • glabellar lines (vertical lines between brows)
  • crows feet
  • smokers lines
  • "bunny" nose

How is the procedure done?

Injections are done with very fine needles directly in the problem areas. Discomfort is extremely minimal and typically does not require anaesthesia. Ice packs are applied to the treated area for 10-15 minutes at the end of the procedure. You may return to your usual activities immediately following the procedure.

Is this procedure for me?

Suitability for this procedure is determined by the physician during your visit to our clinic, however, you should bear in mind that you cannot have Botox® injections if:

  • you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • you have been diagnosed with myastenia gravis or Eaton-Lambert disease
  • you have hypersensitivity to albumin, botulinum toxin, or any component of the formulation;
  • the skin in the sites of planned treatment is infected.

What to expect following injections?

Following the procedure you

  • must avoid touching and should not massage injection points for 24 hours;
  • must stay upright for 4 hours;
  • must not take a hot bath, shower or be in a sauna for 24 hours;
  • you can use make-up 1 hour after the injections.

You will see the toxin working 2 to 4 days after injections with peak effect in about 2 weeks. With time the toxin will lose its strength and muscles gradually regain their ability to contract. Generally, the effects of injections last for about 4 months.

How much will it cost?

The price of Botox® injection depends on the amount used during the procedure. To receive individual pricing information, please make an appointment with our staff.
