Depleted and flat cheeks may give your face gaunt and tired appearance. Adequate cheek augmentation can make you look years younger without major surgical intervention.

Many people underestimate the power of cheek augmentation. It is sometimes enough to correct cheek and lip volume (see lip augmentation) for you to have "back from vacation" face.

At our clinic, cheek augmentation procedure can be performed using filler compounds containing either hyaluronic acid (Revanesse), collagen (Radiesse) or platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM - Selphyl). Hyaluronic acid and collagen are a part of normal skin structure. They are responsible for tissue volume and elasticity, while PRFM is made from patient's own blood and contains biologically active components, which promote skin healing and regeneration.

The pros and cons of each filler is discussed individually with the patient during the visit and the best product is chosen based on patient's personal profile. Injected filler stays in place and provides shape and support for cheeks from 9 to 18 month.

How the procedure is done?

Injections are done by Dr. Robertus with very fine needles directly in the areas of cheeks that require volume. Numbing cream could be applied for pain control. Ice packs are applied to the treated area for 10-15 minutes at the end of the procedure. You may return to your usual activities immediately after the procedure.

Is this procedure for me?

Suitability for this procedure is determined by physician during your visit to our clinic, however, you should bear in mind that you cannot have filler injections if:

• you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• the skin in the sites of planned treatment is infected;
• you bleed easily
• you take anticoagulation or anti-inflammatory medications (have to stop 5 days before)
• you take vitamin E (have to stop 5 days before)
• you are allergic to component of specific filler

What to do and expect after injections?

Following the procedure you

• must avoid touching and should not massage injection points for 2-3 hours;
• do not sleep on your stomach;
  
• you can use make-up in 1 hour after injections.

You may experience bruising and swelling in sites of injections, which should last no more than 1 week. It is recommended to apply ice packs to injection sites several times a day for 10-15 minutes. Generally, effect of injection lasts for up to 12 months and gradually diminishes as the filler gets naturally absorbed by your body.
